Why I Walk

At six months pregnant, I was admitted to the hospital for severe preeclampsia. As the only current cure for preeclampsia is delivering a baby, Mayah was born three months prematurely to keep us both safe. Due to medical complications from a premature birth, Mayah spent 104 days in the NICU. Mayah is a fighter and kicked many medical complications in the butt! She and I continue to fight medical hurdles from preeclampsia. 

We are walking because we do not want other babies and mamas to have the same experience as we did. Preeclampsia is still a very mysterious medical condition for doctors and researchers, and we are hopeful that they will find another cure one day.
