I've had the absolute pleasure of volunteering for five years on the Foundation Board for Lighthouse for the Blind - a private, not-for-profit social enterprise providing employment, support, and training opportunities for people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities.  A ink to the organization and mission is below:

Who We Are - The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.

We are currently fundraiser for the Spring Campaign supporting the Lighthouse Low Vision Services (LVS)! This essential program includes our on-site secondary eye clinic and Low Vision Store, where folks can find all the resources and assistive tools needed to maximize their remaining vision and stay independent. My personal story involves a tour recommended by a good friend during a very difficult time in my life.  On this tour, I met the power of the Human Spirit through the people and work I observed at the Lighthouse that day.  I was humbled, astonished and completely in awe meeting the people, the staff and the witnessing the services and community support this organization fosters.  From that point forward, I've helped fundraise, volunteer, as well as participated in many Blindness Awareness events to better educate myself and other about the Blind and Deaf Blind community.
