We are thrilled to highlight our Lighthouse Low Vision Services Program this year for our Spring Campaign!
The need for low vision care is rapidly increasing and it’s crucial that we continue to meet the needs of our growing community. The Lighthouse Low Services Program (LVS) is comprised of:
- An on-site secondary care clinic, which houses two exam lanes and is staffed by two resident optometrists and an occupational therapist.
- The Lighthouse Low Vision Store is on-site as well, and is open for walk-ins Monday through Friday, 9am-3:30pm.
- Our Rehabilitation Services, including Independent Living and Safe Travel round out our roster of services within the program.
All of the services in LVS go back to our mission – empowering people through transformative services for independence. We aim to maximize our patients’ remaining vision, so that they’re able to remain self-sufficient. Last year we served over 500 patients – helping them find the right tools, establish effective habits and techniques, and develop the skills to feel empowered. But we need your support.
As the need for low vision care continues to increase, we rely on generous support from individuals to ensure that we’re able to grow to meet the needs of this community. Our goal with this campaign is to raise $130,000 for Lighthouse Low Vision Services, which will fund things like:
- Updating & purchasing new equipment – Providing the latest adaptive assistive technology is critical to providing care that can actually help people with low vision.
- Uncompensated Care – A growing number of individuals who are in dire need of care are without insurance. Your support allows us to provide meaningful support to those who need it regardless of their financial situation.
- Increased Capacity – The need will only continue to increase as the population ages, and we need to grow with it.
