My experience with CAHS spans over a decade, starting off in their summer and school year programs back in 2015. Throught my various opportunities to be involved with our organization, all members of our team have shown consistent dedication to Animal Welfare in the Greater Lansing Area and beyond. 

CAHS houses and finds homes for thousands of animals annually. From our cute kitten friends, to our loving senior pets, to our Tennessee transport animals, and furry friends like Rabbits or Guinea Pigs... their staff supports every pet walking through their doors. CAHS provides Spay/Neuter surgeries, vaccinations and preventative care to each dog and cat in their care, as well as additional medical treatment when needed. Staff and volunteers provide clean living environments, behavioral enrichment and, most importantly, love and compassion to animals in the most vulnerable part of their lives.

Our team bridges the gap between uncertainty and a forever home filled with love.

The care and compassion of the CAHS team goes beyond the walls of the shelter. Every day we are supporting pets in our community through our Spay/Neuter clinic, free vaccine clinics for community pets, and our Animal Food Bank. Our team even goes down on a monthly basis to Tennessee to bring homeless pets to their second chances in Michigan. The work of this team is truly changing lives every day. 

On October 3, I’ll be walking in the 2026 Capital Area Humane Society’s Walk for the Animals—and I’m walking to give homeless animals the second chances they deserve.
