Why I Jump into Freezing Lake Michigan!

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, I will be participating in the 2022 Chicago Polar Plunge with my team, Eileen In.  All proceeds benefit the 7,500 Special Olympics atheles of Chicago. Through your donations, people with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to discover new strengths, abilities, and FEEL EMPOWERED!

Why do I do this? Simple!  My Aunt Patty was the 8th child of my Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder.  She is the adored youngest sister of my father.  Patty was full of love, smiles, and joy.  Patty was born with an extra special chromosone and lived with Down Syndrome and two holes in her heart.  She lived a long and happy life.  I plunge in her memory.

Eileen Shaeffers, the honoree of Team Eileen In.  Eileen is a spunky 6 year old with a very special extra chromosone.  I plunge to support Eileen as a future Special Olympics athlete.

Finally, I plunge for my students, past and present, who show us every day that they are brave, kind, and what it means to be apart of an inclusive and compassionate commnuity.

There are three easy ways to support my plunging efforts:

  1. Make a donation to my fundraising page!

  2. Join my team and take the plunge with me at North Ave Beach on March 6, 2022

  3. Help me spread the word! Share my fundraising page with your friends and family.

Join me and make the #PolarPromise as I raise funds for the Chicago Polar Plunge presented by Jackson today.
