We have joined this fundraiser to honor three of our grandchildren, who were all born too early and spent the first days of their lives in the NICU at Children's St. Paul.  

Jordy was born at 32 weeks gestation at just over 4#. He spent 23 days in the NICU and is now an active, healthy, hilarious four year old.  

A little over two years after the birth of Jordy, the unthinkable happened, my twin grandaughters Jessa and Jaelynn suddenly made their way into the world at just one pound each and only 23 weeks gestation. Seventeen weeks early!  

These teeny micro preemies proved they are stronger than any adult could ever be.  Minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.  They fought, and thrived.

The first picture above was our sign that we were about to witness a real life miracle as this tiny, born way too soon, one pound baby grabbed my daughters hand as if to say "I got this! Don't worry mom!"

Jessa and Jaelynn spent the first 114 days of their lives in the NICU.  We were told they were the first 23 week babies to go home before their due date and the first twins born this early to go home the same day!

There is no doubt that these babies were placed into the right hands, at the right moment, where they received the best possible care. This is the reason they defied all odds, and are now nearly two years old and thriving, healthy toddlers.  We will forever be grateful for the excellent care they received.
