On the evening of September 1st 2018 I was driving home from work when I got a call from my sister Katie. I answered with a “sup loser?” partly in jest and part annoyance because she had been ignoring me for days. Turns out she had a very good reason: she was in the hospital and was just diagnosed with stage 3C Ovarian Cancer.
Katie has had four recurrences since that first diagnosis and the goal of her care is to now extend her quality of life instead of curing the cancer.
It’s not reversible for Katie but that doesn’t mean it can’t be reversible for others down the road. That’s MOCAs goal. Since day one MOCA has been there to help educate and support Katie and our family through this terrible battle. Anything we can do to give back to this organization we will and we ask others to help if they can.
This September we walk for Katie, we walk for a cure, we walk for hope, and we walk for every single other woman fighting ovarian cancer.
