I am very excited to be participating in the “Young Heroes 5K Walk/Run and Kiddie K" on September 29, 2019 to raise funds for the Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. 

Sadly, cancer and blood disorders touches so many children’s lives.  These little heroes need to endure harsh treatments and numerous days in the hospital.  They have to miss the little joys of childhood from playing on the swings, watching movies on the couch with their siblings and even spending the holidays at home.

That has become the harsh reality for our family this summer when our youngest daughter, Skylar, was diagnosed with stage 4 Nephroblastoma also known as Wilm's Tumor. This type of cancer is commonly found in children with Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome. She is currently in her 10th of 12 weeks of chemotherapy at Nemours with surgery to follow later this fall. Nemours has treated us like family since the day we walked through the ED and helped ease our heavy hearts with their exceptional care for our baby girl and support for older sister Kiley. They listen to our concerns and stop at nothing to find all the best help and what is going to keep Skylar striving in life even after cancer. 

My goal was 1,000 and huge thanks to all my family and friends who donated and joined, we surpassed that.
