THE DREAM FACTORY MANITOBA ICE DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL for 2019 has been Cancelled!
We are sad to inform you that, this year's MB Ice Dragon Boat Festival has had to be cancelled! The MPA, our festival partner, just made the call. The long range weather forecast was one of the determining factors.
We sincerely appologize for any inconvenience , or confusion. We will get more information to you as it becomes available.
Thanks you for your patience! When we have info regarding the 2020 MB Ice Dragon Boat Festival, it will be posted here.
The festival is a fundraiser for The Dream Factory, a Winnipeg based charitable organization dedicated to fulfilling dreams for Manitoba kids who are battling life- threatening illnesses. We need paddlers and teams to have fun while raising funds to make dreams come true for kids who desperately need a break from hospitals, medical treatments and the very adult challenges that come with serious illness. All funds raised stay in Manitoba to help Manitoba kids.
Whether you are a long-time dragon boater or have never paddled before - this festival is a great way to have fun and help us to make dreams come true for some very special kids!
Thank you for helping us bring dreams to life!
****All pledges and donations are used to fulfill dreams for manitoba kids battling life threatening illnesses****
Logan is a typical 6 year old – bursting with enthusiasm, full of life and love. Except he is bravely fighting T Cell Lymphoma, a type of cancer. As you can see, he also really likes the giant teddy bear we have in the family room here at The Dream Factory!
Logan’s dream is to go to Disney World, and meet his favorite movie icon the 95 car, Monty “Lightning” McQueen.
At Disney World, Logan and his family will have much needed break from fighting cancer, and enjoy a few days where Logan can be a kid again!
Register a dragon boat team to help make Logan’s dream come true, or make a donation here!
Mikayla is a vivacious 4 yr. old, shown here telling a story and having a great time in the Family room at The Dream Factory. She is fighting Hepatoblastoma (a cancer of the liver). The dream that keeps her and her family going through this ordeal is a trip to Disney World, where she will attend the “Bibbity Bobbity Boutique”, for a princess makeover! Then as princess herself, she will meet with some of the Disney princesses like Anna, Ariel and Belle!
For Mikayla, and all kids that are fighting a life-threatening illness, having a dream gives them something to hang on to, something to look forward to. Because their doctors often consider the dream as part of their therapy, the dream gives them (and their family) a break from needles and tests, and treatments and other things “hospital” and will let her be a kid again for a few days.
Last April, Maia's family had their world come crashing down when Maia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at just 3 years old. Since then, Maia has undergone months of intensive weekly chemotherapy and has had to stay away from crowds and public areas.
When deciding what her dream would be, Disney World was the obvious choice! At Disney, Maia will go to a special boutique to become Princess Elsa for a day, go on a Safari to the Animal Kingdom and see a cheetah in “real life,” meet all her favourite princesses and characters, and go on the “Dinosaur” ride. Everything she loves in her little world will become real to her. Maia's family cannot WAIT to watch their little girl bask in the joys of life.
