We walk for my twin girls, Harper and Hailey. But we also walk for all of the other babies and families who go through challenges with their pregnancies, premature births, losses, and health scares.

Harper and Hailey were born at 24 weeks on 10/8/15 after a battle with twin to twin transfusion syndrome and going through 3 inter utero procedures. Their fragile bodies weighed just over 1 pound each and less than 12 inches long. Just hours after being born Hailey passed away due to complications from prematurity. Harper continued to fight but was very sick. At 19 days old she went in for surgery after becoming septic and had 2/3 of her small intestines removed leaving her with short bowel syndrome. This will affect her for the rest of her life. The doctors were uncertain of what the future would hold for her and were told that she may never leave the hospital. After 189 days in the NICU/ICC and 5 surgeries she was healthy and strong enough to come home. We still have many struggles day to day but she continues to surprise us. We are very blessed to have her home but the impact that prematurity has had on our family will be with us forever.
