As some of you know Elin was born 8 weeks early on August 15, 2017. We were very fortunate as Elin was born breathing on her own so instead of going to the NICU she was admitted to Special Care Nursery at Children's in Minneapolis.

It was a long 6 week stay- Elin had two EKGs, premature sight and hearing test but overall faired so much better than most premature babies. Her only goal was to eat and grow! When we took her home on September 5th she was just over 6 lbs.

Ed and I were also fortunate to have the love and support of our friends and family who visited, kept us company, brought lunch and lots of lattes for me but the hospital also provided much needed support as well. There were social workers, psychologists, hospital employees to help us with health insurance and billing questions, lactations consultants, rounding doctors and specialist and so much more.

The money from this fundraiser goes directly towards patients and their families who need help with things like hospital bills (imagine not having great private insurance, enough money to cover your long hospital stay, or loosing your job because your leave is so long), food, education on caring for special preemies, lactation support, support groups the list goes on!
