I am grateful to be able to spend my days making a difference in the lives of dogs as well as the humans who adopt, foster, work with and volunteer.
When I am not at the shelter I am advocating for the shelter. I spend countless hours explaining the rewards of volunteering and fostering. Ones you really can't grasp unless you give it a try. I hear it all the time, "I couldn't be there", "I would adopt them all", "they would break my heart". And to all those I say but what if they healed you? What if they lifted you so high that nothing could bring you down? Nothing could stop you from coming back again and again. That is how I feel every day.
I want to make a difference, touch a heart which has been scarred and heal it. I want to prove that humans still care. I want to do what I can and then do a little more.
We domesticated them we owe it to them to provide for them. To make their lives better. To teach them not to fear by building their confidence. To teach them lessons and tricks. To share with them our lives, our home and our love.

Sometimes you just have to challenge one another to be as silly as possible.
This boy taught me so much about what dogs can overcome and what they can't. Having come from a life on the end of a large chain and an ox bow he had so much love to give but just could never trust most humans.
The one who came and never left. Biggie was supposed to be a foster for just a few days but after those few we knew we couldn't let him go. Biggie was the first dog to come in to our Pa campus when the BVSPCA started saving lives in the state of Delaware. He came in with an old injury to his rear leg that the vets determined needed to be amputated. Biggie went on to be the "Biggest" and the best advocate for the BVSPCA until cancer took him from us this past year.
