My mother is gone now 9 years and not a day goes by that I don’t remember her fights against cancer. She was a 43 year survivor of kidney cancer, a 21 year survivor of breast cancer and 3 year survivor of uterine cancer. She was also the strongest person I’ve ever known and people tell me they remember her as such a positive and kind person despite those battles she fought. The uterine cancer ultimately came back and got her, but I know it was her fight with breast cancer that took the most emotional toll on her. She told me it was the support of her family, close friends and organizations like The Ellen Hermanson Foundation that helped in her battle. I know that The Ellen Hermanson Foundation supports both the physical and emotional sides of breast cancer and is especially vital for women who don’t otherwise have a strong support system at home. When I heard about the Shocking Pinks from my good friend Sheryl, I knew I had to get involved in honor of my mother’s memory as well as my friends that have also had to endure this struggle. I hope to make a little difference in the lives of other women by helping this worthy cause. Please join me in the fight and in remembering my mother and all women struggling to conquer breast cancer by donating.
