Who would have thought that 2020 would have started out this way? A pandemic, hunker down orders and social distancing. We are all such social beings that this has been hard for many folks, especially the individuals that receive supports from Hope. The Art Studio that was so lively with individuals creating masterpieces...closed! The Discovery Center that takes on adventures...closed! 

This year, more than ever, the Walk for Hope is an essential piece of giving hope to hundreds of Alaskans that experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and mental health challenges. Every dollar raised during this now "virtual" event helps these individuals by providing services that may not be covered by medicaid/insurance. 

If you are one of the lucky ones that is still able to work and considered essential, thank you! If you are one that was laid off or forced home because your employer's doors closed, it will get better! As Alaskans we are all in this together. We will come out stronger than ever.

Here are some ways that you can help by donating a monetary value of some of the things that have been put on hold during these interesting times:

• weekly coffee shop
• Friday night bar tab
• a lunch out during the work week
• manicure/pedicure
• haircut
