I’m participating in the New Hope Community 5K Run / Walk / Roll to support a community where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are seen, valued, and empowered to live full lives.

I created Team We Choose New Hope because this event is so much more than something I am coordinating for work. As New Hope’s Director of Development, I have had the privilege of helping build this first 5K by listening to the people we support, working closely with staff, and shaping an event that feels like us: joyful, welcoming, meaningful, and full of community.

New Hope has become such an important part of my life. It is the work I love, the mission I believe in, and the place where I have found so much purpose. Every day, I get to see people supported, celebrated, encouraged, and given opportunities to build lives filled with choice, independence, friendship, confidence, and happiness. It is impossible not to feel proud of this community.

That is why I wanted to create a team of my own. I want my friends and family to see what I see. I want you to feel the energy, meet the people, experience the joy, and be part of something that means so much to me, both personally and professionally.

This event is our kickoff year, and I want it to be fun. I want it to be loud. I want it to be full of people showing up, cheering each other on, laughing, walking, running, rolling, and celebrating together.

I choose this work. I choose this mission. I choose this community.
