As some of you know Peter lost his battle with 9/11 Cancer on September 2nd 2020. He fought courageously for 4 1/2 years. In that time, in addition to being an amazing dad he also became a "Barn Dad" to our daughter Isabella. Little did we know that being at the barn and around horses would be great therapy for Peter. When at the barn, Peter would forget, even for a while, that he had this dreaded disease. He would forget about doctor appointments, needle sticks, pills and chemotherapy. He was able to enjoy the outdoors and we were able to bond and grow closer as a family. Peter wanted that for other families with First Responders that have a Certified 9/11 Illness, unfortunately Peter passed before he could get the word out about this great opportunity. The heroes of 9/11 gave selflessly on that awful day and for many months thereafter, unfortunately the heroes and their families are paying the price even to this day. This opportunity gives us a way of saying Thank you and providing a little sense of normalcy in the otherwise chaotic and scary times in their lives. I am so honored to have this amazing fund named after my equally amazing husband.
