Why Support CCASC
Hi Friends and Family!
I’m participating in this year’s Adaptive Awareness Day to raise money for the Central California Adaptive Sports Center (CCASC).
Adaptive Awareness Day is an in-person ski day in costume paired with online fundraising. The purpose of Adaptive Awareness Day is to raise awareness for adaptive sports and support fundraising efforts for Central California Adaptive Sports Center. Your support will help provide year-round adaptive recreation and adventure programming, enriching the lives of persons with disabilities in the Central Valley.
Emilie has been skiing with CCASC for four seasons. We just returned from an amazing 3-day trip to China Peak and Emilie is ripping Academy with very little assistance from her instructors. Her progression has been remarkable, and we are so grateful for CCASC and their opportunity.
Here are a few words from Emilie:
Independence is a big thing for me and I think a lot of other people with disabilities feel the same way. I don't get a lot of opportunities to tame something as wild as the mountain, much less on my own accord. I can not express how incredible it is to rush down the slopes the first time, knowing you are in control. It is truly liberating. This is why CCASC is so important and has made such a huge impact on my life in a short amount of time. All people of all disabilities are welcome here and can bask in the same joys of progress and freedom as I have.
Without Randy, the barriers to entry, the ability of me and other disabled people to access the gear, the mountain, and the vast knowledge of “how to ski”, would be too great and we would not be able to experience this. Randy and his crew work out of the goodness of their hearts to give us this opportunity, this access to ski, the knowledge of how to ski, and the mountain.
