The 2021 VIRTUAL Honolulu AIDS Walk

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to host an in-person walk.  To honor the spirit and resilience of the fight against HIV/AIDS, we are adapting and hosting a 100% virtual walk! 

Here is how you can participate!

STEP ONE: REGISTER

Registration is free! 

  • Raise Money- Funds raised go to support vital HIV services right here in Hawai'i.
  • Raise AwarenessHIV is not over.  There is no cure and almost 39,000 Americans are newly diagnosed each year.  
  • Fight Stigma- Show your support for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

 

STEP TWO: MAKE IT PERSONAL

Personalize your fundraising page, where your friends, family, and co-workers go to sponsor you online, by logging in to your Fundraising HQ. There you can:

  • Share your reasons for walking by editing the text on your page.
  • Upload your own images or videos.
  • Set or change your fundraising goal.

 

STEP THREE: TALK THE TALK 

 

 

Now that you have a cool custom new fundraising page, share your page with family, friends, and co-workers so that they may sponsor you for the 30th Anniversary Honolulu AIDS Walk. . Don’t be shy!  If you don't ask, you will never know! You can share the link by:

  • Sending an email through your Fundraising HQ—the link is automatically included in all messages you send and there are templates to choose from and customize!
  • Share your fundraising page directly to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.  
  • Copying and pasting your custom URL into your fundraising outreach emails directly.

 

STEP FOUR: WALK THE WALK!

 

 

We are celebrating 30 years, and you have 30 days!  The Honolulu AIDS Walk is usually a 5k walk around Kapi'olani Park.  This year, you have the entire month of June, and the course is completely up to you! 

  • Post pictures of you walking to your personal fundraising page.
  • Share with your social media followers pictures of you walking to fight against HIV/AIDS #30YEARSIN30DAYS
  • Email us a picture of you walking at aidswalk@hhhrc.org
  • Download your favorite exercise training app, such as the free-to-use MapMyWalk to track your walk and share with your family and friends. 

We will upload submissions onto our Social Media Channels thanking our supporters

 

A Month Long Celebration

June 1st Mobile Medical Unit Blessing, 9:30am

Join us for our christening and launch of our new Medical Mobile Unit. This unit will serve all over the island of O’ahu to ensure access for all to our services. Location: Na Kupuna Makamae Center located at 653 Ala Moana Boulevard in Kakaako

 

June 1st – June 30th Kaimana Beach Hotel artisan cocktail special

This handcrafted artisan cocktail commemorates our anniversary this year. Go by the Hau Tree and experience this delicious rainbow concoction. Special runs all month with $1 from each drink sold benefiting HHHRC

               

June 4th Apple’s Talk Show Show

Join Andrew Ogata and Cullen del Rey as they pop by to talk story with Apple A Day on her Twitch digital show, Apple’s Talk Show. Lots of hilarity is sure to follow!

 

June 6th – June 12th Puve Donut Shop Special AIDS Walk Donut

Purve Donut Shop is celebrating this year’s 30th AIDS Walk Anniversary with delicious RED donut specially created for this momentous event. Pop by throughout the week at all locations to enjoy this delectable pastry. Purve is generously donating 100% of proceeds to HHHRC. Magnifique!

 

June 6th – June 12th Thrills Soft Serve Special ‘Sugar Babies’ combo

Pop by Thrills Pi’ikoi location and enjoy this delicious ice cream combo. Sugar Cookie Soft Serve with upgrade options of a handmade Ube-Vanilla Waffle Cone or a Delicious Chocolate Waffle Cone. Thrill is generously donating 50% of proceeds to HHHRC and 50% of proceeds to the Trevor Project . Yum!

 

June 8th & 22nd Organized Sign Waving Outside the State Capitol, 3-5pm

Take this opportunity to bond with your community and join us for a sign waving campaign to bolster HIV/AIDS Awareness. Bring your own sign and wear your rainbow colors with PRIDE!

 

June 13th Ala Moana Beach Park Roller Skating Scavenger Hunt, 6-9pm

This fun event is organized by Kelli with Eye Photography and will benefit various local LGBTQIA+ organizations. Come out for an evening of fun and frolicking like you haven’t been able to do in a year!

 

June 16th – June 30th “Bid for Life” Silent Auction

A fun way to support the Honolulu AIDS Walk and score some cool items!  This Silent Auction promises lots of fun items and destinations from which to choose.

 

June 17th Rainbow Town Hall Panel Discussion on History and Future of HIV/AIDS in Hawaii, 6pm

Join us as we discuss our history with HIV/AIDS as a community and how our future is shaping    up with the care and prevention programs offered by HHHRC. This Town Hall is a monthly program sponsored by Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation.

 

June 23rd Food Drop, 12pm-6pm

With the help of the Hawaii Foodbank and local farmers, we are able to offer food drops each month. Come out this month either to volunteer or take advantage of this free program. Which ever it is, we hope to see you! Location: Na Kupuna Makamae Center located at 653 Ala Moana Boulevard in Kakaako

 

June 24th @9pm & June 26th @ 6:30pm KHON2 “Friends For Life” TV Special

 

This very special TV Event is hosted by the illustrious Brook Lee and features Dr David McEwan,   founder of Life Foundation/HHHRC; Jack Law, owner of Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand and original board member of Life Foundation; Andrew Ogata, Events Manager HHHRC, and Kunane Dreier, LGBT Program Training & Manager; Heather Lusk, Executive Director HHHRC; and Lt Governor, Dr Josh Green. Also, we have a special appearance with Henry Kapono who will delight us with his music/song stylings and tell us about the history of the arts and AIDS awareness in Hawaii.

 

June 27th Hawaii Rotary E-Club AIDS Walk Pickle Ball Tournament

Never played Picklball before? Well, this is your opportunity to experience something     immensely fun. This event will promise a good time for all.

 

June 30th LGBTQIA+ Comedy Night at Blue Note Hawaii, 7pm

 

This very special evening featuring host Jhonny Rox-Hollywood and the comedy stylings of Lanai, Brandi Morgan, Blue James, and Blake Alexander. This event is organized by Jose Figueras, who will donate a portion of ticket sales to benefit HHHRC

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does it cost anything to participate?
A: No!  Registration is 100% free!  However, everyone who raises $50 will receive a commemorative 30th Anniversary Honolulu AIDS Walk t-shirt.

Q: When is the 30th Anniversary Honolulu AIDS Walk?
A: The entire month of June!  You have plenty of time to complete the scavenger hunt, take a walk, and fight HIV!

Q: What should I wear?
A: Red is the color we honor HIV with.  Donate $50 during your registration and receive your 30th Anniversary Honolulu AIDS Walk shirt ASAP!
