February 26, 2020, marks my "Diaversary" of living with Diabetes for 28 years. In those 28 years, I have seen so many advancements in the treatment of diabetes. From the types of blood glucose monitors, insulin, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitors, I have been through all the changes. I have learned about a lot of those things through Camp Seale Harris, and the friends that I have made there.
My first year at camp was in 1992, and I am so glad that I continued to attend until I graduated from Auburn. I never knew that I would return one day as a volunteer as a Registered Dietitian, and I am so glad that my kids get to go and learn more about my daily challenges while attending with me. I think Laura looks forward to camp every Summer more than I do. This year will be my 17th year at camp (non-consecutively).
I would love to help send another child or two living with Diabetes to camp this Summer. It is $800 per child to go for the week and learn more about their diabetes, as well as be around others 24/7 who experience the same things as they do day to day. If I didn't have Camp, I would not have as many special friends as I do now that I have made throughout the years.
Thanks to all who donate and help make this possible.
