Our son Will is our heart warrior. What started as a routine check-up turned into a journey we never expected—one that led to open-heart surgery before his third birthday. Through it all, he’s just been Will—full of energy, always hilarious, and full of resilience.
What we’ve learned is that this journey doesn’t end after surgery. For so many heart families, it’s a lifelong path with unexpected turns. We felt that again when Will was seven and had a stroke. And once again, he fought his way back—strong, steady, and with a smile (except for those daily stroke shots! ouch!)
That’s why we walk.
We walk for Will. For the kids still waiting for answers. For the families figuring it out as they go. And for the research that makes stories like his possible.
This year feels extra meaningful as The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates 30 years of funding the kind of research that changes outcomes for kids like Will. It’s the reason more heart warriors are growing up, healing, and living full lives.
