As a California State Parks Lifeguard at Huntington State Beach, Ben Carlson’s story has always been more than just a story to me—it’s part of the culture and values of the profession I love. Ben gave his life attempting to save another person in the water, and his legacy continues to inspire lifeguards and our coastal community every day.

This September, I’ll be paddling from Catalina Island to Newport Beach as part of Ben Did Go 11.0 to honor Ben’s legacy and raise money for the Ben Carlson Foundation. The foundation provides college scholarships, swim lesson scholarships for children, and supports programs that make our community safer around the water.

This challenge will push me physically and mentally, but every mile is for a cause I truly believe in. If you’re able, I’d be incredibly grateful for a donation of any size. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page means just as much.
