I'm thrilled to be participating in BENDIDGO 11.0 this year, a 30 mile paddle from Catalina Island to the Newport Beach pier in support of the Ben Carlson Foundation. Founded in honor of Newport Beach lifeguard Ben Carlson, who lost his life in the line of duty during a rescue in 2014, the foundation funds drowning prevention and water safety programs, provides lifeguard training and rescue equipment to under-resourced agencies around the world, sponsors local kids through Junior Lifeguards and after-school swim programs, and has awarded college scholarships to lifeguards in need.
