This year, I set a goal to challenge myself and take on something I’ve never done before. I bought a 14-foot prone paddleboard and have been training to complete the Ben Did Go Paddle from Catalina Island to Newport Beach. This paddle is about much more than the challenge itself. All funds raised will go directly to the Ben Did Go Foundation, created in honor of Ben Carlson, a Newport Beach lifeguard who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. I’ll also be making this crossing in honor of my friend Sunny Garcia, someone who has inspired me through his strength, determination, and resilience. I know this is going to push me physically and mentally, but that’s exactly why I chose to do it. I’m grateful for anyone who wants to support the journey, whether that means donating, sharing the fundraiser, or simply following along.
