This summer we were very blessed to have James Phillips, one of the Keynote Speakers of Buddy Fest NW, complete our Internship Program. From day one James demonstrated that he was humble, hungry and smart. James also shared with our firm the powerful story of his amazing friend Cody Sullivan. Here is an excerpt from that message:

Today I would like to share with you a quick story that I hope you will find encouraging and inspiring! This story revolves around my good friend Cody Sullivan who, this past Spring, was the first student with Down Syndrome to ever graduate from a 4-year college program in Oregon. Cody and I met during our freshman year at Concordia and have developed our friendship ever since. This summer, I have had the opportunity to live with the Sullivan's and spend quality, one-on-one time with Cody.

Cody has taught me many incredible lessons like: always be yourself, be inclusive, love others no matter their differences, and embrace kindness and mindfulness in all interactions. Cody has the gift of treating others with genuine kindness and love no matter who they are, and through our friendship, he has taught me a lot about how to do the same. I believe Cody's life and lessons align well with the culture here at Delap and think his story can encourage you in your life and journey!
