I am excited to be raising money for Bikes Not Bombs through its Bike-A-Thon. For the second year in a row, I will be riding from the Stony Brook T station to Harvard (no, the other Harvard, the one whose motto is "Colles sunt," or "There are hills"). The ride is a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun, and it's a big part of the annual support for the organization.
This is all happening on Sunday, September 11th. (Heavy rain means the ride will happen on the 25th, but the preliminary forecast is for fair weather.)
Bikes Not Bombs is an organization that has managed to think both locally and globally. Some of its programs set up and sustain bicycle infrastructure in countries around the world. And others help kids in Boston learn bike mechanics and bike safety. The bikesnotbombs.org home page explains all the things that the organization does much better than I can.
