Prior to the pandemic, I hadn’t biked much for fun since I was in high school. Jumping back on two wheels again was initially a means to break up pre-vaccine isolation, but feeling that simple joy of cruising around under my own power had me hooked again. Cycling helped me rediscover the city from a different perspective and introduced me to a wonderful community of people working to make the region a better place to live in. Bikes Not Bombs is one of the most impactful organizations in this space - both in their core values and their programming. I’m riding this year to support their mission to use bikes as vehicles for social change at home and abroad. The way Bikes Not Bombs supports economic mobility for Black and other marginalized communities while centering sustainability is critically important.
