On May 17 2026, for the third consecutive turning of the seasons, I shall mount my aluminum steed and venture forth into the rugged wilderness of Metro West Boston.
Know you this: my path is long and my purpose is noble. Departing the bustling forum of Jamaica Plain, I shall traverse fifty grueling miles to the distant hills of Lincoln and back again. It is a trial of endurance, yet my spirit does not waver, for I carry the banner of Bikes Not Bombs.
In the year that has passed, your virtue and legendary generosity saw us amass a tribute of $1,500 for the noble non-profit. By your hand, we have forged tools for the youth of our city and sent the gift of mobility to brothers and sisters across the Great Sea. Truly, the bicycle is the chariot of the common man, and through it, we conquer poverty and isolation!
But the work is not yet finished. Behold the noble goals our alliance seeks to achieve:
- Reclaim & Divert: Rescuing over 5,000 bicycles annually from the waste stream.
- Empower Local Youth: Providing hands-on "Earn-A-Bike" programs and paid apprenticeships to help Boston's youth build skills and confidence.
- Global Solidarity: Shipping thousands of bicycles to international partners in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean to serve as lifelines for jobs and education.
- Economic Mobility: Using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change to achieve mobility for Black and other marginalized people.
I stand before you today to ask: will you again join this glorious campaign? I seek not for myself, but for the cause. No offering is too small for the treasury of progress. Whether you grant a single coin or a king’s ransom, you plant the seeds of a more just world.
Let it be written that in this third year, we did not shrink from the challenge, but rode further and gave more than ever before!
I remain your humble servant,
Will
