I'm riding in the Bike-A-Thon for the 3rd time! For my long time fans, thanks for coming back and welcome to the new supporters. I'll be riding 50 miles, plus 15 miles round trip from my house for a grand total of 65 miles (plus any ice cream detours). And like every year, I'll still be complaining about the last 10 miles of the route, navigating the hills and twists and turns of Brookline and JP. I also love this ride because it's a fundraising ride that supports more biking, that just makes sense!

Bikes not Bombs is an incredible organization in Boston

• Engage and empower over 200 people in Bike School at our Hub in Jamaica Plain and at the MA Department of Youth Services (DYS) center in Roslindale.
• Employ over 40 young people as paid Youth Apprentices who build critical workplace skills in a supportive and caring environment.
• Advocate for safe and equitable transportation options for underserved communities in Boston.
• Ship thousands of bicycles overseas to our partners in the Global South who are working to advance environmental, economic, and social justice initiatives. 
• Provide free and affordable bike repair services to underserved communities in Boston through our Chain Reaction mobile bike repair program

My bike advocacy is mostly talking about biking, sending emails and donating, and I appreciate this ride in being able to support the bike community both in Boston and across the world. Biking in Boston keeps getting better and better as the community grows and more bike infrastructure is built. Here are some great things that Bikes Not Bombs does:
