My Personal Fundraising Page

Welcome! And thank you for coming to my BNB fundraising page.  Since you are now here, I am assuming that you have either supported me (and/or another rider for Bikes Not Bombs) in the past, or have recently been so impressed with this wonderful organization that you have been inspired to support its work.  If you are new to Bikes Not Bombs you can wander around bikesnotbombs.org to amplify the little I’m about to say right here (updated from my 2017* fundraising page):  “BNB is a local non-profit in Jamaica Plain that offers bicycle technology as an alternative to war and environmental destruction.  It uses the bicycle as a tool to foster young people’s leadership, development and sense of individual and collective power to transform their own lives, strengthen communities and build a just and sustainable planet.  Since 1990 more than 4,000 Boston area boys and girls have participated in BNB programs all of which are active, hands-on and peer-led.  Young people have the opportunity to learn everything from basic bike maintenance and city riding to all the skills needed to work as a bicycle mechanic.  Since 1984 BNB has shipped over 75,000 bicycles to partners in 14 countries in the Global South.  BNB’s partners provide life saving health services, turn bicycles into pedal-powered machines, organize communities rallying to stop climate change, run bike libraries, lend bikes to high school students and distribute thousands of refurbished bikes that provide affordable and sustainable mobility.  These partnerships have built ‘an international network of social justice oriented bicycle organizations.’”

*I was not able to ride for Bikes Not Bombs last year because I had Total Reverse Shoulder Surgery in April 2018.  I am writing this on April 23rd, 2019, without having been able to ride outside for more than a year, but I will be back in the saddle in a few days, and ready to ride in the Bike-A-Thon on June 9th.  NOTE:  I have been spinning “my brains out” for 10 months at the gym!
