Bikes are Freedom! Help Support Bikes not Bombs
This year I am helping Bikes Not Bombs in their big annual fundraiser. BnB is an amazing non-profit here in Boston that runs multiple programs centered on "using bicycles as vehicles for social change."
A few examples of their programs:
They teach young people how to repair bikes, and these kids then run the best, most unpretentious bike shop I've ever been to. The current executive director is a graduate of the apprentice mechanic program from many years ago.
In the midst of the pandemic, they are running the Boston Bike Match program, where old bikes can be donated, repaired, and then gifted to essential workers who need them to get to work.
They've been organizing very successful "Rides for Black Lives" since this spring, attended by thousands of cyclists from across the region keeping on the pressure for police reform in Boston. This past Sunday's event was also attended by Ayanna Pressley!
This year the annual Bike-a-Thon has been first postponed and then moved to a virtual event because of the coronavirus. Because of all the current economic uncertainty impacting other revenue streams, this fundraising effort is even more important than usual.
I love BnB! They make Boston a better place to live for everyone. If you are able, please consider joining me and contributing to the great work they do, even if it's a few dollars. Thank you!
