For those of you that know me I started road cycling after moving to Boston 6 years ago as a hobby after graduate school and an activity to spend time with Royce.  Over the years, it has turned into more than a hobby and rather a lifestyle.  We dedicate weekends to biking, week days after work with quick "hotlaps" and commute to work using our bikes.  Biking has installed a sense of confidence, stress relief, self-empowerment and accomplishment in my life.  I don't fundraise much - but the Bikes Not Bombs program resonates with me on so many different levels. The mission is simple: to use the bicycle as a vehicle for social change for maginalized people in the community and the world.  Some of the great work Bikes not Bombs provides includes programs to teach bike safety and mechanics to local youth and through this program they earn bikes for themselves. Other work includes sending bikes overseas to economic development projects giving people means of transporation to support themselves or allow children to bike to school.   

My bicycle is my transportation to work, my means of exercise and stress relief, and at times a puninsher.  But after every ride I have a sense of accomplishment - I hope to meet my goal of fundraising to help "pay it forward" and perhaps change someones life through a bike.
