Hi! My name is Slok Jariwala and I am super excited to be running with Dougie's Team for Autism. I recently got hooked into running during my last year at Boston College. I was never able to run long distances, but after a group run with my roommates, my mental block disappeared. Ever since, I've spent many hours running around the reservoir near BC, into Newton, and up and down Comm Ave. On Marathon Monday, I loved to cheer on the runners as they just conquered Heartbreak Hill. Now, I cannot wait to be on the other side of the fence, running towards the finish line in Boston.
I volunteered at a school with students on the spectrum in high school. Every Thursday we would take the bus after school and spend time with the students. We would make food together, take a photography class, and go outside and play. The hours I spent there were filled with many laughs and wonderful company. It was easy to see the impact that some love, kindness, and fun can have on someone's day. I am so excited to be able to support Dougie's Team for Autism in helping people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest!
