Whitaker was found as a stray in Philadelphia and was taken to ACCT, a shelter where he didn't have a very good chance. The Brandywine Valley SPCA pulled Whitty to their West Chester campus and treated his mange (a skin condition that left him nearly bald). We visited the shelter one Thursday night in June of 2017 and fell in love with him instantly when he came up to his gate to give kisses. It was too late to complete an adoption that evening, though, and he was leaving in the morning for their Mega Adoption event so we got up Saturday morning and drove to the event in Delaware where we stood in line for five hours with the dog we already had. When it was finally our turn to go in we divided and conquered--we found Whitaker, introduced him to our girl Ziva, and completed the paperwork to bring him home. He has been a sweet cuddle bug and a best friend to his mommy, daddy, doggy sister, and human brother (who joined the family just two months after Whitaker did) ever since.
