My Story

I found a lump on January 27, 2016. After a mammogram, ultrasound, 2 biopsies and an MRI I was diagnosed with stage 2A triple positive breast cancer. I underwent 5 months of chemotherapy followed by 7 additional months of IV immunotherapy, including an echocardiogram every 3 months due to heart damage risk. My surgery consisted of a double mastectomy, then eventually reconstruction. Today I’m 1 year and 8 months out of treatment and, despite some stupid little things, feeling fantastic.

87% of all breast cancers are diagnosed through mammogram. The five-year survival rate for cancer found only in the breast (not reached lymph nodes) is 99%.

Early detection is key. The Care 4 Breast Cancer 5K funds the Health Partnership Clinic in Woodstock which provides mammograms to everyone, regardless of the ability to pay. My family and I are participating in this event because we believe everyone deserves a chance at survival. Please consider making a donation towards our $300 goal, which will provide appx. 3 mammograms.
