Meet our Honorary Captain - Colstyn
On October 14, 2024, Colstyn James entered the world under dire circumstances. His mother, just 32 weeks pregnant, suffered a sudden and life-threatening placental abruption—the second in 15 months. After an emergency C-section, she spent a week in the ICU while Colstyn was rushed to the NICU at Albany Medical Center.

Born with a hole in his heart and a brain hemorrhage, Colstyn relied on oxygen, feeding tubes, and round-the-clock care. His parents temporarily relocated to the Ronald McDonald House in Albany to be near him while also caring for their three young sons.

The emotional and financial toll was overwhelming. With Dad out of work, housing costs became a major concern. That’s when Building on Love stepped in—helping the family stay afloat during their most vulnerable moments.

We’re thrilled to share that Colstyn is now home and doing well, surrounded by love and gratitude.
