Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurodegenerative disorder believed to be caused by an abnormal isoform of a cellular glycoprotein known as the prion protein. There is no treatment or cure. Wilfried was tragically diagnosed with this disease in July 2023, passing away just 3 months later.
Prior to his decline, Wilfried enjoyed sailing, tennis, classical music, and playing the violin. Wilfried never stopped learning - he could usually be found reading the New York Times front and back. Wilfried was a wonderful husband to Andrea, a loving father to Christine and Julia, a father-in-law to Daniel, and a grandfather to Nina and Alexander.
The mission of the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation is to support families affected by Prion Disease, raise awareness, and support medical education and research. In honor of his beautiful life, the Kischkat family would like to raise money to help this organization further its research and be able to support families with similar situations. Thank you for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Andrea, Christine, and Julia Kischkat
