Some people leave a mark on every life they touch. Tim Stout, “Stouty,” “Timmer,” was one of those people. His family and friends will miss his laugh, wit, steady presence, intelligence, and the simple ways he made us all feel like we belonged. A friend called Timmer their rhythm section: reliable-supportive-steadfast. Another, his keystone. 

Tim’s battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease was short, devastating and relentless. There is currently no cure or treatment for CJD.  Tim was 52 when he passed away. 

While hospitalized, coworkers, family, and friends visited. Many flew from across the country, some visited multiple times. They came to retell stories, sometimes getting career advice or suggestions on how to handle a client or a complex project. Chocolate magic cup and ice cream were shared with music constantly playing in the background. Every song reminded us of a Stouty memory. Friends came to laugh together and tenderly hold their brother's hand. They came to touch his beard, scratch his back, and wipe away the tears. They came to surround Tim with an extraordinary love–a testament to the life he lived and the many people whose lives he touched. 

He was a devoted husband and best friend, an uncle, son and brother, whose marriage and friendships were built on laughter and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life. 

Born and raised in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Tim attended Drexel University. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in engineering management. During his time at Drexel, and as a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, he formed fiercely loyal friendships. Like the friendships he formed during his childhood, his friends are family.They are all Tim's brothers. 

Tim's career carried him far beyond his Pennsylvania roots. As a civil engineer, Tim spent more than 20 years at Langan Engineering building a career based upon trust and lasting relationships. He began in Philadelphia, and rose through the ranks to executive leadership as Principal. 

Tim traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, supporting many of Langan's most significant projects, including stadiums in the Middle East, becoming a leader in the firm's growing data center practice.

During the Pandemic, Tim relocated from Philadelphia to Phoenix to start a land development practice with industry-leading engineering and an environmental consultancy team. He and his wife packed up their lives and drove across the country with their two pups. The challenge was embraced wholeheartedly with courage and optimism. Wherever he went, Tim brought steady leadership, technical excellence, humility, and an ability to build lasting relationships. He was respected for his knowledge and deep commitment. He was known for his work ethic, purpose, and admired for his willingness to mentor and help others.

Tim believed life was meant to be experienced and tasted, preferably with good music played on real instruments, with an ice-cold beer and good friends. A Philly guy to his core, Tim loved the Eagles and Phillies and old-school punk music. He loved traveling, going to the gym, hiking with the pups, biking, playing the drums, and always finding the best restaurant, hot sauce, or cup of coffee wherever he was. 

To know Tim was to know someone who didn’t need to be the loudest voice in the room to make an impression. If you were lucky enough to know Stouty, you probably have a story. He was thoughtful, intelligent, really funny, endlessly curious, with a genuine love for the people around him. Maybe you laughed with him over a drink, took a trip together, or played music too loud. Perhaps you sang until you were hoarse, crossed a finish line together, or simply enjoyed one of the countless conversations that somehow became unforgettable. He had a way of making ordinary moments become cherished memories. 

Tim’s legacy lives on in everything he helped build, every colleague he mentored, every friend who has a "Stouty story.” The set list is long, the rhythm section steadfast, reminding us of so many joyful times spent with him.

Even in the face of an impossible diagnosis, with prion taking his life quickly away, it could never take his humor. It could not take his kindness. It could not erase the respect he earned, the friendships he built, or the love he gave so freely. And the world feels quieter without him. 

A casual celebration of Tim will be held in Rehoboth Beach, DE on August 15th, 2026.

Tim’s PA family will be hosting at the Middletown Country Club, Langhorne PA. July 25th, 3-7pm. 

Tim is an organ donor to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center, NPDPSC. This was done to assist future research of CJD and importantly for his family to find some closure in the search for answers of how he acquired CJD.
