CURE CMD Helped Save Our Daughter's Life
Three months ago Chloe was battling double pneumonia, a very dangerous situation for people with congenital muscular dystrophy, and was admitted to the hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
After two days in the ICU, Chloe still was not getting any better with treatment. While this was going on, we were in constant communication with Cure CMD sharing our concerns, and wondering why Chloe was not improving under the care plan at the hospital. Cure CMD discovered that her care team was not following CMD respiratory protocols, which are specifically tailored to help people like Chloe that come down any acute respiratory illnesses.
Within hours, Cure CMD recruited an expert clinician to help guide the hospital in providing the treatment Chloe desperately needed. Chloe's vitals immediately turned around, and within two days, Chloe was back home and on the way to a full recovery.
Given the rarity of CMD, we do not expect every clinician we encounter to know exactly what to do in times of crisis. Cure CMD helps bridge that gap -- making sure families like ours get the support we need during medical emergencies.
