Once Upon a Star supports parents and families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing and advocates for all the many different ways that our children learn to hear and communicate with others. 

Our Why

Our daughter was diagnosed with ANSD when she was 2 months old. ANSD is a hearing disorder in which the inner ear successfully detects sound, but has a problem with sending sound from the ear to the brain (National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders). Since her diagnosis, we have worked to make sure that we learn and have resources available to us so we can best help her through this process.
