In 2006, I was a summer intern with Miami YFC.  My first night at the KIX program, a fight broke out in the parking lot.  "Call the police," my supervisor shouted over her shoulder. 

"Yep," said my co-worker, pulling out her phone.  

They were so calm, but I was internally freaking out.  I didn't know what violence looked like as a young person - and I definitely wondered if I was in the right place.

I was.  I was in a place that was about to teach these same kids how to use their words, their feelings, and their faith to fight - fighting for their families, their communities, and their own lives.

I've stayed part of Youth for Christ because year after year, I see hundreds of kids' lives changed for the better.  Whether it's gun violence, self-harm, abusive romantic relationships or neighborhood violence...we see kids and families transformed when they hear the message of Jesus' peace.  Will you support me this year as I go over the edge again?
