Nathan's Story

My son Nathan was diagnosed at age 9 with osteosarcoma and continued to fight cancer's till he was 16 at the time of his death. While fighting his cancers he underwent serious surgeries and testing and hard high dose chemotherapy treatments. Nathan was pulled out of school, he had to isolate from family and friends and he spent most days in patient at the hospital receiving chemo, PT, transfusions and many different surgeries. Nathan's cancer was rare and there had not been a new chemo for it in over a decade at time of his diagnosis in 2010 and still to this day the treatment's remain harsh and difficult on a childs body and organs, two of Nathan's chemo he had gave him a secondary cancer that there was no treatment for he was literally being tested on and he along with us his parents we know this but there was no choices you do what you can to try and save your child, eventually he'd relapse after his BMT and then come down to being diagnosed with therapy induced AML, is third cancer. The treatments were extremely hard on his body eventually playing a part in his death.

This is why research is so important to better our children's future and the outcome of the survivors of childhood cancer. We as a family of a child and we know of many and have met too many along the ay, it's not that rare but it is reality, these children will all become friends along the way because they're the only kids they're around, they will make great friendships as well as support each other and sadly they will bury many of them and face the grim question AM I NEXT? these are things that are a daily life for children in the cancer world eventually not even wanting to make new friends because that's just one more there gonna loose again, the fear and anxiety that comes along with it it absolutely heart wrenching and terrible for a child to endure, then we move onto the hardships of YESTERDAYS TREATMENTS being given to our children today... If the child survives the cancer the side effects or great, heart disease, loss of vision/hearing, organ damage, the anxiety, and PTSD, infertility, these are just a few and these are just a few that my son had not even addressing the other children,
we NEED better option for our/your children and so we join forces with many other parent and people who also want to help make that difference and help raise fund for research and patient programs at Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (NCCBD) at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

WONT YOU PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR A CHILD TODAY; TO HAVE A BETTER TOMORROW...

THANK YOU
