Hi all! I am so so excited to announce that the club I am a part of, STEP @ UCF, is participating in the Canine Companions Dogfest for the fall of 2026!
Canine Companions is an organization that raises and trains future service dogs and provides them free of charge to people with disabilities, PTSD, to different facilities, and now those with Type 1 Diabetes!
STEP is a group of volunteer members who help raise these pups from the ages of about 2 months up to about 16 months, socialize them, and teach them 30 basic commands, so that way they go into their professional training ready to help serve their future match.
STEP @ UCF is completely volunteer based and Canine Companions provides service dogs free of charge to those in need, so if you chose to donate, your donation would help expand our reach and give back to more community members.
STEP @ UCF also wants to take this opportunity to challenge ourselves and we have set our goal to raise $25,000 total for Canine Companions. We know it's a lot but with everyone's support I really think we can do it. If we raise that total amount, we get to name and bring home our very own Canine Companions pup to STEP@UCF which is a dream!
I would love to encourage you to help us in this mission, and if you cannot donate, share this page! Even by spreading the word you're a huge help to us and the people we serve. Thank you in advance from the whole STEP@UCF family and Canine Companions. Go Knights, Bark On!
Narino and I!
Canine Companions has some of the most good natured pups ever! They impress me every day with their skills and cuteness!
Us at our back to school pawty!
We host back to school pawties so our members have an opportunity to relax and get to know our pups before the chaos of the school year starts!
Getting to take one of our darling step pups Verde to Disney for socialization practice!
We are so lucky to be by some amazing areas such as Disney where we are allowed to opportunity to give them real world distraction and socialization practice in different areas! Plus they all look sooo dapper when they get dressed up.
Our final General Body Meeting of Spring 2026!
These two pups are practicing some of their commands while we are celebrating our last GBM of the spring semester. We use these meetings to spread awareness about different parts of Canine Companions and the important roles different service dogs provide. *both leashes are being held*
STEP Pups are the sweetest!
No matter two legs or four, step pups seem to find their ways into everyones hearts. This is my personal dog Baloo who has had the honor of growing up alongside some of our amazing step pups, they've taught him a thing or two about how to be a good baby! *photo was taken in an enclosed space*
Outreach Events!
One of the best parts about being a board member for STEP@UCF is our ability to teach the young student community about Canine Companions and our dogs. We do different outreach education events with different groups throughout the school year to spread the mission and to encourage people to get involved with Canine Companions!
