Why The Ackerman Family and Friends Walk for Epilepsy
Personally Epilepsy has been part of my family's lives for over 50 years. I am over 34 years now seizure free and Terri is seizure free for several years as well. This year we want to honor those who supported us in our Epilepsy journey. 5 years ago my dad passed away and along with my mom they were there every step of the way to provide me with the best medical care and supported us in all aspects of while I was going through the thick of my seizures and also in support of all of our journey through our support of the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island. Also, Terri's parents were there to support her in care and outreach she has joined me in. This year we also are walking in memory of Dr. Kurt Ackerman, my brother, who was there at any moment for our Epilepsy journey being a big part of our support and medical team, Dad and Kurt we miss you so much and your support is still felt to this day. Thank you to all our friends and family to help us continue our support for Epilepsy and celebrating our seizure-free years and our journey to raise money to further EPIC Long Island's outreach to help our community get the services needed for others to get the support they need medically, education, and much needed research.
