Hello! I am the Communications Specialist for Healthy Birth Day, Inc. and the Count the Kicks campaign. I am honored to be a part of this organization, and feel grateful every day to be doing work that truly makes an impact.
I am the mom of two healthy boys, and though I counted kicks during both of my pregnancies, I truly didn't understand the power and importance of this daily routine until I started my work with Count the Kicks. Every year in the U.S., 1 in 169 pregnancies end in stillbirth. In fact, stillbirth is 10 times more common than SIDS. We aren't talking about the impact enough, which is why supporting our mission to make kick counting a common practice is so important.
I now know that I was lucky to have two healthy babies and two healthy pregnancies. But I don't believe expectant women should have to be lucky. I believe knowledge is power, and that ALL expectant women should be educated about the method for and importance of kick counting, and feel empowered to speak up to advocate for themselves and their baby if they notice a change in movement.
Please consider supporting Count the Kicks, and joining us for the Every Woman Counts event this year, featuring Glennon Doyle. YOU can make an impact by donating, and sharing Count the Kicks with EVERY expectant parent you know. You never know who you might save!
