Hello!!

Many of you know, but some do not, that my first child was stillborn.  It's a topic that rarely comes up in conversation anymore.  When it does, instead of just sharing the dark details, I now can refer to the Count the Kicks organization as part of my happily ever after, to an otherwise devastating experience.  

I've been volunteering for the non profit organization, Count the Kicks, for a few years now. Created by 5 Iowa moms who lost their daughters to stillborn, they wanted to make a difference. Their free, user friendly, phone app provides education and reminders for women in their 3rd trimester to count their baby's kicks.  Counting kicks in a consistant manner provides important data for health care providers. In addition, it gives mothers-to-be reassurance and confidence in their pregnancies. Their amazing progress in outreach education is working, and babies are being saved, with the help of our donations.

 For me, finding this positive way to honor my son, Charlie , has been a true blessing. And you are all angels for helping out in anyway you can. See what I did there, did I pull at your heartstrings a little??? 

Anyway, to really send it home, a couple of years ago I decided to tell my story about Charlie. CTK posted it on their blog:   https://countthekicks.org/2019/01/the-story-i-dont-share-but-should/.   Little time had past and I received a note from a FB friend saying she let her daughter-in-law know about the app. She was nervous and felt it would be useful. Sure enough, she wasn't feeling her baby move in a consistant time frame. She had the data, had the courage to speak up for her baby, and indeed needed an emergency cesarean.  Happy to say the baby is healthy!!!!  So what do you say???  Let's save some babies!!!!!
