Linda Cook, CFP®
Founder and Managing Partner, Gilbert & Cook, Inc.
After an early career in investment planning convinced her that people should come before products; in 1993 Linda Cook founded Gilbert & Cook, Inc., an independent wealth management firm specializing in financial planning. Linda’s goal in starting her own strategic financial planning company was to build long-term relationships based on identifying needs and exploring solutions, rather than ‘selling something’. She set out to build a team of experienced professionals that truly understand clients, listen to what they want to achieve, and find the right financial solutions to meet their needs.
After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, Linda became a Certified Financial Planner. She is a graduate of Greater Des Moines Leadership and is a past Board Member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (Iowa Chapter). She is also the Past President of both the Financial Planning Association of Iowa, and the Iowa CFP Association.
Currently, Linda is a member of the UNI Board of Trustees and serves as chair of the Investment Finance Committee. She is also a member of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, the National Association of Women Business Owners (Iowa Chapter), and FIN Capital.
Linda has received many honors and awards including: the President’s Award - VSR Financial Services, Inc., Des Moines’ Forty Under 40, and nationally one of the Top 50 Independent Broker/Dealer Women Advisors. In 2019, Gilbert & Cook was honored to receive the 2019 Best Practices Award from Investment News. Most recently, Gilbert & Cook has been named one of the Top 300 Registered Investment Advisors in 2020 by the Financial Times.
Outside of the office, Linda enjoys cooking and traveling with her family. She and her husband Chris live in West Des Moines and have two daughters, Haley and Kamryn.
