Let's support FAER! 

FAER has provided Emory's Anesthesiology Department with $500,000 over the last two decades for research projects by the following Emory investigators, who have held joint appointments at Grady and the VA:

• Markus Klass (MRTG) Stem Cells for the Treatment of Neuropathic Pain
• Anna Woodbury (RFG) Neonatal Pain Results in Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders: Honokiol's Role in Treatment and Prevention
• Rachel Hadler (MRTG) Addressing Treatment Intensity in Critical Illness Through Assessment of Early Mortality after Intrehospital Transfer

Emory has served as a host institution for 22 FAER-funded medical students to perform a dedicated 8 weeks of summer research through the FAER MSARF program. These students have come not only from Emory, but also from SUNY, University of Miami, University of Illinois Chicago, NYU, University of Nevada, University of North Dakota, MCG, Mercer, USD, Chicago Medical School, University of Arizona, University of Maryland, Oakland University, University of Central Flordia, Rosalind Franklin, Morehouse, University of Rochester, and Appalachian State, helping to develop a diverse and multi-faceted future generation of Anesthesiologists to tackle peri-operative research questions.

FAER also supports a resident scholar from our Department each year to attend ASA's annual ANESTHESIOLOGY conference.

Hopefully, some of you will apply for these awards in the near future, including FAER's new FAER-NAM award or Research in Education Grant (REG). There is also a specific MRTG for Anesthesia Patient Safety that provides increased funding support.

Let's continue to give to FAER so that FAER can give back to all of us and the future of our field!
