Hello! I'm Marissa and I was born with a congenital heart defect and later got a heart transplant as a young adult. Programs like Camp Del Corazon and P.A.C.E have made me meet many people like me with heart problems and helped me make many close friends. While Camp Del Corazon just lets us be kids, P.A.C.E teaches young adults, like me, how to become more independent. They also help young adults, with heart defects, learn how to manage their own condition. The P.A.C.E retreat itself has many workshops that teaches us things from how to get health insurance to team games. The community also gives a lot of emotional support to those going through a hard time, health wise or not. Even though I graduated last year I've still kept up the friendships from P.A.C.E and I'm still able to join them in daily activities that they set up. Last summer we had a pool party and a camp out. Recently it's been game night zoom calls and outdoor hiking, but they have many ideas for the future. It's such a great community and a great cause to donate to.
