What is Life Without Entertainment?

Cider Mill Neighborhood Team is Going "Over the Edge" for the Flynn

I believe performing arts are vitally important for the development of our children, families and communities.  Storytelling, acting, music and entertainment broaden our world-view, expand our understanding of the human experience and, ultimately, teach us about ourselves.

To broaden my world-view I’m going “Over the Edge” to raise funds for the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts which, over the past 80 years, has evolved to become the premier centerpiece of performing arts programming and education in Vermont.

Your support of this vital community resource would be greatly appreciated!

Please make a donation by clicking the "Please Click Here" button below and then join me downtown on Saturday, August 31 as I rappel nine stories.

MY GOAL

Help me reach my $1000 goal and support the cultural and education programs at the Flynn Center for the Performing Art.  A donation of any amount ($5, $10, $25, $50) will be truly appreciated!

Flynn Arts

  • Last Fall, 240 students attended weekly dance, music and theater classes and over $6,500 was awarded in scholarships to students. It is exciting to see the variety of workshops and classes being offered. There is truly something for all ages.

Student Matinee Series

  • A series of 30+ per year matinees serve approximately 38,000 children per year in grades PreK-12 from within a 120-mile radius.
  • Support of the matinees allows ticket prices to be at the lowest accessible access point and to offer free tickets to those students with high need. Last year, 7,100 students attended for free!
  • Support also allows the Flynn  to reach out to rural and underserved schools, providing tickets and bussing support, thereby equalizing access for students from communities that have fewer opportunities to experience the arts.

Flynn Youth Theater Company

  • Talented teens from across the state gather at the Flynn to produce high-quality theatrical productions under a professional team of artist-educators.
  • Over the course of several weeks, they build new skills, exercise their strengths, stretch their limits, and develop close friendships with peers who are passionate in similar ways!
  • Many graduates from the program have gone on to study in the top college, university, and conservatory theater programs around the country, and to pursue professional careers as performers.
