I have a goal to lose 30 pounds this summer. Partly this is to raise funds so that some great orphaned kids in Colombia can come to the DC area this winter to meet their forever families. But partly it's also because I have been invited to sing in an Andrews Sisters trio on a float in a parade in Atlantic City in September and would like to be a little less pudgy! Kidsave's vision is a world where every child is nurtured from birth, where the loss of human potential due to neglect is absent, and where people everywhere care enough that all children, even those abandoned, can meet and grow up in stable, loving families. Kidsave is passionate about the value of older kids. For 21 years, Kidsave has done this work and changed the lives of thousands of kids. It is teaching governments how to do this work.
While there are always many immediate needs for your generosity, the problem of children growing up alone is a deeply entrenched global challenge that requires a change of attitude at the government level. Kidsave is changing deep-seated misconceptions and showing what is possible. While showing how, it is also saving individual kids from limited life prospects and despair. Through hosting, reunification and mentoring Kidsave is leading the way to a much fairer world for kids.
